Laughter

A good laugh, I’ve learned, is a great start to the day. Our kids have made crowding into our bed, sometimes with an iPad, a fun part of relaxed weekend mornings. We queue up videos of Stephen Colbert and Lilly Singh. Seeing Joesh, Jaever, and Gia rolling around in the covers in a fit of giggles over the latest hilarious meme gets me laughing right along with them. Indeed, research has shown that we’re thirty times more likely to laugh in the presence of others than alone. It’s like a yawn, triggering the feel-good receptors in the brains of people around us. I like to think of it as a game of endorphin dominoes, spreading happiness.
